Embedded Firmware Engineer — Sensors
You will write the firmware inside the Vibra, Therma, Volta, Aqua, Presence, and Trace sensor families and the OpsSense Edge gateway. These devices live on pumps, panels, and pipelines for years on a battery, in heat, dust, and vibration. The code has to be as durable as the housing.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain firmware for battery-powered wireless sensors and the Edge gateway.
- Optimize power budgets to hit multi-year battery-life targets without sacrificing data quality.
- Implement robust wireless communication, buffering, and retry behavior for unreliable industrial RF environments.
- Build over-the-air update mechanisms that are safe to run on a fleet in the field.
- Work with the ML team on on-device feature extraction and adaptive sampling.
What you bring
- 3+ years of embedded C/C++ development on resource-constrained microcontrollers.
- Hands-on experience with low-power design, sleep states, and battery budgeting.
- Experience with at least one wireless stack (BLE, LoRa, sub-GHz, or similar).
- Comfort with lab equipment — logic analyzers, oscilloscopes — and reading schematics.
- Discipline about testing firmware you cannot easily recall from the field.
